Cécile Attalin

French photographer, I live and work in Strasbourg.

I create works of art by exploring my daily life in its smallest details, by experimenting the reactions of color with light. The moments captured in my environment can seem timeless, sometimes even abstract. Are they remnants of my training as a historian?

We find the influence of drawing and painting in my photographs (Caravaggio for its chiaroscuro), photo or scientific discoveries (19th century pictorialism or scientific illustrations by Ernst Haeckel, artist and biologist of the 19th century who knew how to see beauty in the most improbable creature).

I search in my photos for light or its absence, being (portraits) and non-being (objects) and the harmony of colors. Another of my sources of inspiration in photo: John Batho. Collector, the objects staged come from my collections.
